Hi, my name is
M1ST
I build systems that feel good to play and tools that make life easier to live. Currently a Senior Game Design student at UC Santa Cruz.
About
I'm a Senior Game Design student at UC Santa Cruz with a passion for creating systems that elicit meaningful responses from players. My design philosophy centers on mechanics that reward mastery and tactile feedback that makes every interaction count.
Outside of game development, I'm deeply invested in Linux and open-source software. I moved to Linux because I was tired of fighting clunky software — now I build my own environment from scratch. My proudest project in this space is MIST-OS, an ever-evolving Arch Linux configuration suite.
When I'm not at a terminal, you'll find me writing D&D campaigns (systemic world-building in its purest form), building Gunpla kits, sketching, writing, or streaming on Twitch.
I'm always looking for weird and interesting collaborations, game projects, or internship opportunities. If you value efficiency, skill-based design, or just want to talk about the best way to organize a config file — let's connect.
Projects
MIST-OS Dotfiles
A modular Arch Linux configuration suite built around Hyprland and the Noctalia theme engine. Manages everything from the window manager and terminal to Neovim and shell configs — all deployable via GNU Stow.
monk3yChat
A peer-to-peer video chat application with a jungle-themed UI. Uses WebRTC for low-latency media streaming and Socket.io for signaling. Features screen sharing, real-time messaging, and media controls — no install required.
